IMPORTANT NOTICE - Bali Urban Railway Works, Phase 1

The Bali Urban Railway Network is one of the most anticipated development projects in the province. Discussions about the initiative have been ongoing for over a decade, and this coming September, construction will begin on the first phase of the railway.

The Bali Urban Rail Network will be developed in phases, with the initial phase targeted for completion by late 2028. The primary railway line will connect I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport with popular tourist resorts like Canggu, Kuta, Seminyak, and Sanur. With just four years to complete this major infrastructure project, teams will need to work quickly to ensure it stays on schedule.

The main goal of the project is to provide an alternative transportation system for both local communities and tourists, helping to alleviate the growing traffic congestion in the southern part of the island. As part of the construction process, the current traffic flow system will need to be reconfigured.

The Head of the Bali Tourism Office has confirmed that there will be road and lane closures starting from September 1, 2024. However, specific details about which roads will be closed and when are still forthcoming. These changes will vary regularly throughout the next four years as the project progresses.

Tourists should be aware that from September onwards, road closures, lane closures, and diversions will be inevitable around areas where the Bali Urban Rail Network is being constructed. Further information will follow, but phase one of the project will focus on the railway line connecting Bali Airport to Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, and Kerobokan.

Cordially,

The LAT Team
