Lotus Asia Tours awarded  “Travelife Partner”at WTM, London

London, November 6, 2018. Lotus Asia Tours received three prestigious “Travelife Partner”awards today from the Travelife certification systems at the WTM (World Travel Market), London. The awards for Lotus Asia Tours; Malaysia, Indonesia and Myanmar, were in recognition of Lotus Asia Tours' continuing efforts and “frontrunner” position concerning sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Lotus Asia Tours’ three entities; Malaysia, Indonesia and Myanmar were explained, by Travelife, that they complied “…with more than 100 criteria, related to an operators’ office management, product range, international business partners and customer information. The Travelife standard covers the ISO 26000 Corporate Social Responsibility themes, including environment, biodiversity, human rights and labour relations;and is formally recognised as being in full compliance with the UN supported Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria.”

Lotus Asia Tours ranked as follows:

• 3rd company in Malaysia
• 10th company in Indonesia and 
• 20th company in Myanmar 

to have attained the Travelife Partner certificate in their respective countries.

Mr Naut Kusters, General Manager of Travelife for tour operators explained, “I am delighted to see that sustainability in the tour operators sector is obtaining momentum. The award of the front runner …(Lotus Asia Tours – Malaysia, Indonesia and Myanmar) will inspire other companies in… (their respective countries) to follow the same path”.

Travelife, established with the support of the European Commission, is the leading international sustainability certification for the travel sector. Over 35 national travel associations promote the scheme to their members including ABTA, The British Travel Association and PATA, the Pacific Asian Travel Association. Since 2012, over 600 Asian companies were trained in CSR with the support of the Dutch government CBI program. They now work step-by-step towards more sustainable operations.

The management requirements are compatible with EMAS and ISO 14001. The system is supported by more than 35 national travel associations to further its implementation among members.
